Using 2022 Social Media Trends at Your Property

Written by Admin | Dec 4, 2021 8:00:00 AM

Social media trends frequently change, sometimes even day by day, so it’s important for you, as a property manager, to be aware of them.

Whether it’s a popular TikTok audio clip or an entirely new platform that’s emerging, you can expand marketing efforts at your campground or RV park to reach your ideal audience by implementing these current and upcoming trends.

Here are five social media trends to look out for in 2022:

New Formats

Throughout 2021, we’ve seen a huge increase in the use of TikTok and Instagram Reels, which we anticipate will continue well into the new year. These platforms were also some of the first places we saw a new trend: audio for social media. Many of the most popular videos on both TikTok and Instagram Reels are inspired by trending audio clips.

In addition, many businesses are getting involved in B2B and B2C conversations on platforms like Clubhouse, where you can participate in audio chat rooms.

As each of these platforms continues to grow in popularity and connect businesses to their audience, it is also anticipated that audio in social media will continue its growth as well.

Influencer Marketing

While social media influencers aren’t new, they are becoming more popular and organized, particularly in e-commerce. By utilizing them, you can make a significant impact on your outdoor property’s brand awareness.

In particular, look into using local, micro-influencers who can raise awareness for your community, showcase activities and deals at your property, and have a big impact on your occupancy.

User-Generated Content

Utilize the content that visitors are tagging you in — it’s free content! By sharing user-generated content, you can show current and potential customers that you’re engaged with them and pay attention to what they have to say on social media.

While not every post you’re tagged in will be a good fit for your brand to post, it’s still important to examine each piece of content, find posts you’re interested in, and ask permission from the creator. Each of these steps are important to add into your marketing strategy so you can utilize already-existing user-generated content.

Behind the Scenes

Beyond the professional photos and enticing descriptions on your website, potential visitors want to know what it’s really like at your property.

In addition to showcasing sweeping landscapes and the beauty of nature on social media, show off the behind the scenes activities that happen at your property. This could include interviews with your guests, having a staff member “take over” your Instagram Stories to post what they do in a day’s time, or showing how your team prepares for guest check-in.

Overall, it’s important to post content that allows your guests to feel like they’re taking a transparent look at your property’s day-to-day operations.

Digital Communities

Digital communities, like Facebook Groups, have seen a rise due to COVID-19 and are a great opportunity for your business to create relationships. Whether it’s joining a community focused on travel to interact with potential guests or a group for outdoor property owners to discuss management with other professionals, these groups are great ways to connect with others.

You should also consider creating your own community — especially if you have a loyalty program. This is a great way to bring your guests together, encourage them to post their user-generated content, share feedback and reviews, and more.
